CRISSY FIELD

San Francisco is a cool place. It is full of history, beautiful buildings, a massive bridge that isn't an eyesore, rolling green hills, great weather, and busy people. Every time I leave San Francisco I get a little teary eyed driving back over the bay bridge looking back at the city. Sure there are some bad parts, like having to hide every item in your car so no one will break in or circling the block 18 times to find a downhill parallel parking spot. But there is nothing better than a city where you can spend a day walking to get breakfast at the local cafe, riding your bike to a historic air field to eat lunch, driving over an iconic bridge that leads you to rolling hills with spectacular views and then ending your day watching the sunset on the roof. You get the ocean, the hills, the trees all in one city, the hustle and bustle of the city, the quaintness of a small town. You can see wildlife everywhere you go, from seals hollering at fisherman's wharf, to deer roaming the hills in the Marin Headlands and to the Pomeranian that gets chauffeured in a $3,000 handbag.
After picking up some sandwiches from Blue Barn we had lunch down at Crissy Field. The sun was out and for some reason no one was there so we had a great picnic on the lawn. A woman asked to take a picture of me on her flip-phone because I looked like this famous painting called 'Christina's World'. Jerry and I both thought it was cool, and we assumed that the painted was off a girl in a red dress with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. Yeah well we were so wrong. The painting is of a paralyzed woman in the middle of a wheatfield crawling to get home. So looking back, it was actually kind of an odd request by the woman haha. But regardless of the creepy woman, I strongly recommend taking the time to stop by Crissy Field when you are visiting San Francisco. Maybe stop by at sunset and bring a blanket to enjoy the final minutes of the sun setting on the bay. Like I said earlier, San Francisco is a cool place.
